Learning the success of walking with God!

Most will never understand what it means, to truly,  walk with God! Certainly people that have committed to Christ and have relationship with him, but I’m not speaking of people’s salvation or judging their ability to hear his voice or know His ways! I’m talking about the kind of walk with Him that you get so close to Him that you lose your identity and take on His! Just as John the Baptist did when he said; ” I must decrease and he must increase!” Jesus said that in order to follow Him we must deny ourselves and pick up our cross… Walking with God successfully, is not defined by how much we have but by our surrender to Him and to His ways! David desired to build God a house but it was not what God required of Him! What God wanted and what David wanted were two very different things! The same is true for you and me. I wonder how much we’re doing now “for Him” that really, He’s never required of us. Our walk should not hinge on our “success.” Jesus said;”Many in that day will say Lord, Lord did we not do many things in your name…” These that did much were not rewarded on their successes but rather on their walk(s) with God! Another true mark of someone who really walks with God is persecution! It’s impossible to be close with the Father and not come under intense surveillance from those around you! Jesus said, that if we are persecuted great is our reward in heaven! Again our successes were not rewarded, but our walk with God…

    Hi Pastor Pruitt,

I send you greetings from Southwest Florida!

I love the way you describe what it truly means to walk with the Lord. It is my desire to lose myself in Him; I so want to disappear! In a recent conversation I had with a girlfriend, I hung up just marveling at the level of maturity we are reaching when it comes to our views on dating. We are both single moms and had compromised our innocence in years past. Today I shared with her my longing to never “date” again, but be courted. The next time I kiss a man will be at the altar on our wedding day. For that kind of vision to consume me, I know it was a desire placed in my heart by the Lord. My old imagination would have never entertained it. I am thankful that he is overwhelming my dreams and showing me more and more of who He is.

Thank you for what you shared. It reminds me to seek that I not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of my mind. (Romans 12:1-2)

I love this post! Its the wake up call that we Christian need EVERY MORNING! We can walk with Him every day…we just sometimes forget that. I want what God wants in my life and nothing more! He is more than enough for me! :)
